So I'm going to start with questions I have gotten from friends who have been told stuff and they want clarifications. I got a bunch from when I went to a Seventh Day Adventist Academy, and when random strangers find out I'm Mormon. It's really fun to laugh at what people think we believe. So I'll start,
1. Are Mormon's Christian?
Yes, though some Christian religions do not accept that.
(Weird Text change???)
2. Do you believe in The Holy Bible?
Yep, people often think that since we believe in The Book of Mormon we don't believe in The Bible, but we do.
3. What do Mormons believe?
This is a really long and hard answer to give, so I'm going to give you a link, that will send you to the Articles of Faith, which is basically what we believe.
4. Do Mormons practice polygamy?
No, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) does not. We believe that marriage between a man and woman is sacred. The FLDS church (which a COMPLETELY different church) does, and because of the one letter difference in abbreviations people often confuse the two; for that reason I gave you both the full name of the Church and the abbreviation.
5. Why can't women hold the Priesthood?
God made it that way. (Don't hold this next sentence against me if I don't make sense) I think that God gave men the responsibility of the Priesthood and women the responsibility of childbirth, and those two support each other.
6. Why is the Church against abortion?
God gave us the sacred ability to create life. That was a special power that we didn't have to be given. If we were to take away the life of an innocent being, that would not be fair, as we were the one's who created it. To my understanding, if a female is a victim of rape or incest, she can get an abortion because it wasn't here fault that she created the child.
My personal opinion on that is even though having a child from a situation would be hard, I strongly feel that If I was in that situation I would keep the child. I don't think not having a chance to live on earth is at all fair.
7. Do Mormons date non-members?
It depends on a lot of factors. The first and most important being, are you both sixteen? The prophet has told us not to date until that age. Than it's about personal standards and family expectations. Some might say no because they want to be married in the Temple, and don't want to start a relationship that can't be eternal if you grow serious.
8. How can I obtain a Book of Mormon?
Here is a link, that when you fill out the information, you can have Missionaries come visit you and answer more questions.
Have more questions, and don't want to talk to the Missionaries? Post them here and I'll see what I can answer.
Time for my big news!!!!
